TEEEMPUS publishes guides. Each one takes a famous luxury watch, such as the Rolex Submariner, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak or the Patek Philippe Calatrava, and sets it beside affordable watches that look like it. New guides come out every week.
We like the famous watches too. We'd just rather you kept most of the money. Each pick also says what it gets wrong, because every one of them gets something wrong.
Resemblance comes first. A pick has to look like the famous watch in the variant that matches it, with the same dial colour and the same case and bezel shape. Price and specs come after that.
Some picks follow a famous design on purpose, under their own name. The watch world calls that a homage, and we label every one, so you know what you're looking at.
The photos are front-on product shots, shown to scale, so if a watch looks smaller on the page, it is. The specs come from the brands' own pages.
Prices are US list prices from the brand's US site, or from a US authorized retailer when the brand doesn't publish one. Each guide gives the date we checked them, and where a price comes from an archived page, the guide says when that page was captured. We check every price again each month. Retailers often sell for less than the list price.
Amazon buttons are paid links under Amazon's Associates programme, and each one is labelled "Paid link". Brand buttons go to the brand's own site. Where the brand runs an affiliate programme, that link is tracked too, so a sale can earn us a commission.
Buying through a paid link costs you nothing extra. No brand pays to be in a guide. A watch is there because it looks the part.
If a price is out of date, or a pick doesn't look right to you, tell us. Write to support@teeempus.com or use the contact page.
