Tudor Black Bay Alternatives: Four Watches From $149

By TEEEMPUS · Published

You know a Black Bay by its hour hand. It ends in a big square of lume, the shape watch people call a snowflake, and it sits over a domed black dial with large round markers. The one this guide is about has a burgundy bezel and a three-link steel bracelet: reference M7941A1A0RU-0001, 41 mm wide, with Tudor's own MT5602-U automatic movement, certified by both COSC and METAS. In the US it lists at $5,325.

This list is short on purpose. Most watches that copy the Black Bay come from small homage brands, and many of those drop the burgundy bezel or the snowflake hand. We went through watches like the Tudor Black Bay on sale in the US today and kept the four that look like it, from $149 to $299. Between $1,000 and the Tudor's own price, nothing looked right: the red-bezel divers we found there have numerals on the dial, a day and date, a leather strap or different hands, so we left that gap empty. One more came close. San Martin's SN0128-G, a 40 mm homage with a wine-red ceramic bezel and a snowflake hand, was sold out at San Martin and at Watchdives when we checked.

Each pick comes with what it gets wrong. Prices are regular US list prices, not sale prices, checked on 1 November 2026. The Tudor's price is from Bucherer's US store, and two of the picks' prices are from the shops that sell them, as their sections say. The photos are to scale, using each watch's published width, so if a watch looks smaller here, it is. Three of the four are marked as homages, the watch world's word for a watch that follows a famous design on purpose, under its own name. Where we couldn't confirm that Amazon lists the exact watch, its Amazon button runs a search instead.

What you are matching

This is the watch every pick is measured against, the 41 mm Black Bay with the burgundy bezel, reference M7941A1A0RU-0001:

Nothing below has all of it. The Watchdives and the Pagani come closest on the dial and the bracelet, the Octopus swaps in a five-link bracelet, and the Red Star keeps the hand and the bezel but changes the dial. In the photos, none of the four bezels is quite Tudor's burgundy: the Pagani's is softer and pinker, the Watchdives' is lighter, the Octopus's is more vivid, and the Red Star's comes nearest. Two of the four are 37 mm, and only the Watchdives runs on quartz.

The two closest

Watchdives WD7922 (homage)

This is the cheapest Black Bay homage we found, and a close copy. The matte black dial has round markers in gilt surrounds, a triangle at 12, batons at 3, 6 and 9, gilt print, a snowflake hour hand and no date, inside a red aluminium bezel numbered 10 to 50, on a three-link steel bracelet. The steel case has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 200 metres, as the Tudor is. Watchdives makes it and sells it from its own store.

What you give up is size and the movement. It's 37 mm wide, 4 mm narrower than the Tudor, 45.5 mm from lug to lug and 11.4 mm thick. Inside is Seiko's VH31 quartz movement, which moves the seconds hand four times a second, so it sweeps more than it ticks, and Watchdives doesn't publish the battery life. In the photos, its red is lighter than Tudor's burgundy. It lists at $149, about a thirty-fifth of the Tudor's price, and Watchdives' store showed it on sale for $105 when we checked on 1 November 2026.

Pagani Design PD-1671 V2 Red (homage)

Of the four, this is the closest copy of the Black Bay's face. It has the Black Bay's dial layout: glossy black, large round markers in gilt surrounds, a triangle at 12, batons at 3, 6 and 9, a gilt snowflake hour hand and no date. The bezel, which Pagani calls red, is a soft wine red in its photo, numbered 10 to 50 with a lume pip at 12. The three-link steel bracelet has rivet-style sides like the Tudor's. Pagani lists a sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown, and the dial says 100 metres.

What you give up starts with certainty. Pagani's page says the case is 42 mm wide and 15 mm thick, and names a Miyota 8215 automatic with 42 hours of power reserve. But the product codes for the same watch in other colours say NH35, and the older PD-1671's page carries the same text and the same mismatch, so we can't vouch for the movement or the size. The dial says automatic. We've drawn the photo at Pagani's 42 mm; if the case is smaller, the photo makes the watch look bigger than it is. It's water resistant to 100 metres against the Tudor's 200, the dial carries Pagani's G and the letters UGS, the bezel leans a little pink next to the Tudor's, and there's a red ring at the base of the crown. It costs $176, a thirtieth of the Tudor's price.

Two that get part of it

Octopus Kraken OCT025 Black/Red (homage)

Pick this one over the Watchdives if you'd rather have an automatic at 37 mm. The OCT025 has the red bezel numbered 10 to 50, round markers, a triangle at 12, batons at 3, 6 and 9 and the snowflake hour hand, in a 37 mm steel case with a sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown, water resistant to 200 metres. Inside is a PT5004 automatic. We couldn't find a store run by Octopus Kraken itself, so the price and the link are Watchdives'.

What you give up is the bracelet and some of the dial's colour. The bracelet has five links, with polished links in the middle, where the Tudor's has three. The variant is called Sunray Black, and in the photo the dial looks blue-black. Like the Watchdives, it's 4 mm narrower than the Tudor and 45.5 mm from lug to lug, and it's 11.2 mm thick without the crystal. Watchdives doesn't publish the movement's power reserve. It lists at $289 at Watchdives, about an eighteenth of the Tudor's price, and was on sale there for $239 when we checked on 1 November 2026.

Red Star Sea Star 7074G-D

This one isn't a homage, and its dial shows it, but it gets the parts you notice across a room: the snowflake hour hand and a red aluminium bezel numbered 10 to 50, which turns one way in 120 clicks, on a three-link steel bracelet with solid links and solid end links. We call it best built for its spec sheet, as Long Island Watch lists it: a 40 mm steel case, 13.6 mm thick and 48 mm from lug to lug, a double-domed sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown and a Miyota 8315 automatic with 60 hours of power reserve, which you can also wind by hand.

What you give up is the Tudor's dial. Red Star's is black with a wave pattern pressed into it, and it has triangles with numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and batons between them instead of round markers. The lume is green rather than cream, there's a red star under the 12, and there's a date at about half past four, which the Tudor doesn't have. It's water resistant to 100 metres against the Tudor's 200. Long Island Watch, a US dealer, sells it for $299, an eighteenth of the Tudor's price. Its page also showed a "list price" of $349 beside that when we checked on 1 November 2026, so it may look like a sale; $299 is its regular price there.
